Spectrum Update

Updated: Jun 5, 2024

According to FSR as per attached screen shot of an email received to the board. We only need to be affiliated with FSR at the time we start our contract in order to get the discounted rates throughout the contracted 5 year period. At renewal, if we are no longer affiliated with FSR then we will no longer continue to receive FSR discounted rates.

This is good news, we are not bound to FSR by signing a contract with Spectrum.

08/15/2023 UPDATE

The Spectrum account executive responded to some of our additional questions:

1 - What are the penalties associated with us no longer using FSR in the future? Can we keep our contract with you or does our spectrum contract terminate when we terminate our association with FSR?

I am not aware of any penalties if you cancel with FSR. You will continue with your contract with Spectrum until the contract has finalized. Keep in mind when it comes time to renew after your 5 year contract has completed you will not have FSR pricing available if you end your services with them.

2 - If we ever cancel our association with FSR, can we keep our same pricing with Spectrum for the duration of our spectrum contract?

You will continue with your contract with Spectrum until the contract has finalized. Keep in mind when it comes time to renew after your 5 years contract has completed you will not have FSR pricing available if you end your services with them.

3 - Our residents are requesting a price sheet for spectrum services add-ons if we contract with you through FSR. How much will they save if they add TV on their own, Streaming on their own, a phone line on their own, etc

Add-on pricing is attached.TV and Data will need to be added with the bulk contract in order for the community to save. Basic phone is $19.99 and can be added through bulk support once the contract is in place.

4 - If for some reason, we cancel the contract - what are the penalties?

If you cancel before the contract has been satisfied the following penalties will be applied – ETF percentage of 83% X the remaining months in your contract X your Spectrum monthly bill. This will also be listed under the bulk video and internet sections.

"This just means that a portion of the kick back paid to the HOA will have to be returned on a pro-rated basis."

Additional Update

The board sent the following email to Spectrum and we will keep you updated on their responses:

Carlton - thanks for this. I also have one more thing that you guys can help us with that would greatly smooth things over with our residents and committing to work with Spectrum for 5 years. We receive several complaints of intermittent service, especially within our homes and townhomes that are closer to the elementary and high school. They’ve complained of having several technicians coming out stating they are unable to pinpoint the problem and that they have records of several homeowners within our community having problems, and they will “mark” our area as a problem to be monitored over time. I believe that perhaps the high school and elementary school use is impacting the reliability during business hours to our homeowners and its’ making it very difficult for us to pitch this agreement to our residents. Is there any way you can pair up with your maintenance team to figure out what’s going on in our neighborhood and implement improvements prior to us having to vote on this offer?
